Endoscopy and Gastroscopy

Endoscopy is procedure of examininig the interior of stomach and similar internal organs via advanced optical devices. Unlike many other medical imaging techniques, endoscopes are inserted directly into the organ.

Gastroscopy is the procedure of examining upper gastrointestinal system i.e.; oesophagus, stomach and duodenum.

This procedure is done with endoscopy device. This device is a thin, flexible, plastic, cable shaped device and has a light and a camera system that transmits the image of the way it pass through to the monitor.

Colonoscopy

Colonoscopy is the endoscopic examination of all the large intestine and distal part of small intestine with a camera on a thin, flexible tube passed through the anus. It can provide the opportunity for biopsy or removal of suspected colorectal cancer lesions.

Sigmoidoscopy is the kind of examination of the large intestine segment that is close to the anus. Intestines must be cleaned by administration of purgative medications before the procedure

ERCP

Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is a technique that combines the use of endoschopy and fluoroscopy to diagnose and treat obstructive diseases at gall and pancreas canals.

Physicians screens the anomalies at liver, gall bladder, gall canals and pancreas by applying an endoscopy tube called “duodenoscope” to the duodenum. Using ERCP provides the opportunity to perform several executions at the same session.
